Mercedes Mone Addresses Being Booed In New York At Forbidden Door

AEW

The AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view event featured some highly anticipated matches at the UBS Arena in Elmont, NY, including AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone against NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer, with Mone winning the title-for-title bout.

After the match, Britt Baker returned and had a staredown with Mone before leaving. As previously reported, AEW gave the bout a lot of internal praise, especially for Vaquer’s strong performance. Mone reportedly wanted to “make” Stephanie in the bout.

In her weekly newsletter, Mone commented on being booed in New York. She wrote,

“I won’t lie when the chants started – it had me giggling, silly sillies! Don’t you know it’s ME who puts the Boss in Boston! I love New York, though, so I’ll let y’all paint me in the villain era – that’s one thing I love about wrestling: the fans are quick to turn on you, and yet somehow that energy always ends up hyping me up more, so please, carry on, I do enjoy it!”
