During Saturday’s Collision, Tony Schiavone announced that PAC sustained an injury during his match against Swerve Strickland on Wednesday’s Dynamite, forcing a change in plans for the AEW World Trios Championship. Consequently, Jon Moxley will step in for the injured PAC, teaming with Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta as the interim champions to defend the titles. This new formation of the Death Riders is now scheduled to face their rivals, The Opps (Samoa Joe, Hook, and Katsuyori Shibata), at Dynamite Spring Breakthrough this coming Wednesday.
PAC’s injury occurred during his match with Strickland on Dynamite, where he began favoring his knee after absorbing a buckle bomb. The match concluded prematurely, with Strickland securing the victory after delivering the House Call. The Opps have been a thorn in the side of the Death Riders since the Dynasty event, where they launched an attack at ringside during the Moxley versus Strickland match.
Their animosity continued on the subsequent Dynamite, where Samoa Joe and Hook defeated Castagnoli and Yuta. However, the Death Riders retaliated after the match, utilizing a distraction from Marina Shafir to allow Castagnoli to deliver the Neutralizer to Hook onto a chair. Despite this, Samoa Joe issued a clear challenge, stating that The Opps were coming for the Trios titles, setting the stage for their upcoming clash at Spring Breakthrough.
