Two Absent AEW Stars Return On Collision

Thursday’s AEW Collision saw the return of two familiar faces alongside the expansion of Don Callis’s stable. Former Ring of Honor World Champion Rush made his comeback after a lengthy absence, teaming with Dralistico and The Beast Mortos for a decisive trios victory over KM, LSG, and Rosario Grillo, with Rush securing the pinfall after delivering the Bull’s Horns.

This marked Rush’s first match since a February 8th Collision win and only his third overall in 2025, following a storyline suspension for striking a referee earlier that month; the non-storyline reason for his subsequent absence remains unclear, though reports suggest he and Dralistico faced heat for an incident in November 2024 that led to a two-month disappearance.

Meanwhile, Don Callis’s recent announcement of family expansion quickly materialized on the same Collision broadcast. Following Josh Alexander’s Dynamite debut and alliance with Callis, the show featured the return of Trent Beretta and a heel turn by Rocky Romero, solidifying the new faction.

This unfolded during a tag team match where Romero and Tomohiro Ishii faced Alexander and Konosuke Takeshita; Romero’s apparent frustration after an accidental clothesline from Ishii led him to abandon his partner, allowing Alexander to secure the win. In the aftermath, Romero’s initial feigned concern for Ishii gave way to a betrayal as a returning Trent Beretta, absent for nearly a year due to neck surgery, attacked Ishii alongside Romero. The Don Callis Family then joined the assault, with Callis providing Beretta a wrench to further injure Ishii. This new iteration of the Callis Family aims to fill the void left by injuries to Mark Davis and Brian Cage, while Lance Archer remains affiliated with the group.

Notably, Romero, Ishii, and Beretta were all former members of NJPW’s CHAOS faction, and Beretta’s last match before his return was at AEW’s Double or Nothing in May 2024.
