AEW star Will Ospreay recently talked about his deep admiration for WWE’s Paul Heyman. He also remembered a time when Heyman offered him a contract with the EVOLVE promotion back in 2016, an offer Ospreay ultimately did not accept.
Speaking with Josh Martinez on Superstar Crossover, Ospreay shared the memory. “Listen, yeah, sure. Paul gave me that incredible moment once upon a time, where he offered me an EVOLVE deal years ago,” Ospreay said. “I didn’t take it. The money was s***, to be honest with you.” Ospreay quickly added that his comment about the money was just a joke.
Despite not taking the EVOLVE deal and choosing to continue wrestling in NJPW and on the independent scene at that time, Ospreay holds Heyman in high regard. “It was lovely, but I love Paul Heyman. I grew up watching him, man,” he stated. “I’ve always admired his ability to evolve his character and to get into certain roles. He’s the man.” Ospreay, a former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, later signed with AEW in 2023, while Heyman continues to be a key figure in WWE.
