Jeff Jarrett recently shared some direct advice for young wrestlers trying to make it in the business and commented on performers worrying about influencers taking their spots. Speaking on his “My World With Jeff Jarrett” podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer stressed that passion for wrestling must come before money or fame.
“Hey, man, it’s this simple, if you get in it for money or fame as your number one… you’re not going to make it. You got to get into the industry, because you love it, okay?” Jarrett recounted telling a young wrestler. He then gave a second key piece of advice: “Your in ring work is less than half of your success.”
Jarrett explained that while great matches are good, learning to talk, show emotion, and tell stories is more important for a long career. He added, “Promo skills, charisma, marketability. And now it goes without saying your social media presence.” As for wrestlers who might feel their spots are threatened by outside celebrities or influencers, Jarrett had a blunt message: “The silliness that people are throwing a pity party for guys that have been wrestling and might get knocked out of their spot. It’s like, Come on, guys, grow up. You don’t even know what industry you’re in.”
