Warner Bros. Discovery To Split Into Two Companies, Affecting AEW’s TV Home

On June 9, Warner Bros. Discovery announced a major corporate restructuring that will divide the company in two.

One company, led by CEO David Zaslav, will focus on the company’s studio productions and streaming services. The other, to be headed by CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels, will manage the company’s global television networks, including TBS and TNT, the current home of AEW programming.

“By operating as two distinct and optimized companies… we are empowering these iconic brands with the sharper focus and strategic flexibility they need to compete,” the company stated.

All Elite Wrestling currently airs its flagship shows, Dynamite and Collision, on WBD’s TBS and TNT networks, with content also streaming on HBO Max. This corporate split raises questions about the future of AEW’s broadcast rights and partnerships.
