Dustin Rhodes Provides Further Detail on Severe Knee Injuries

AEW

AEW star Dustin Rhodes has provided a further, stark update on the condition of his knees following his announcement that he is set to undergo double knee replacement surgery. In a social media post, the legendary veteran revealed the severe extent of the damage he has been working through for years.

Dustin Rhodes on the State of His Knees

After losing his TNT Championship to Kyle Fletcher in a brutal Street Fight, Dustin Rhodes announced last week that he would be out of action for a significant amount of time to undergo “major invasive surgery.” In a new response to a fan on X (formerly Twitter), Rhodes provided a more specific and sobering detail about the state of his knees.

“My meniscus is non existent in both lol. It’s work ethic and love that pushes me through,” Rhodes wrote.

The meniscus is a crucial piece of cartilage that acts as a shock absorber in the knee, and to be without it in both knees highlights the incredible amount of pain that the 56-year-old has been enduring to continue performing at a high level.

Fueled by a Love for the Business and His Critics

In his post, Rhodes explained what has kept him going through the pain: his love for the business and the motivation he gets from his doubters. He stated that it is the people who tell him to retire that push him to keep going and prove them wrong.

“Its people telling me to retire that pushes me even more! I am still, at 56, one of the greatest professional wrestlers in the world. Age s just a number,” he declared. “Sometimes you have to manifest shit and get it done.”

His defiant message is a testament to the incredible passion and self-belief that have defined his entire, multi-decade career.

One More Goal to Accomplish

While he is now facing a long and difficult road to recovery with his double knee replacement surgery, Dustin Rhodes made it clear that he is not done yet. He stated that he knows his time in the ring is nearing its end, but there is still one major goal he wants to accomplish before he hangs up his boots for good: winning a world championship.

“I absolutely know my time is nearing the end but NOT YET! Gotta get the world title as that should be every pro wrestlers goal.”

This has been a long-stated goal for Rhodes, who has won numerous championships throughout his career but has never held the top prize in a major promotion. His desire to achieve this one last dream will undoubtedly serve as a powerful motivation as he begins the arduous process of rehabilitation. The entire wrestling world will be rooting for “The Natural” to make a full recovery and get one last opportunity to chase that elusive world title.
