Chris Jericho has responded to the recent rumors and speculation regarding his future in All Elite Wrestling and a potential return to WWE. The wrestling world has been buzzing since Jericho’s AEW contract status became a topic of discussion, with many believing his deal expires at the end of this year. Adding fuel to the fire, Jericho recently liked a post on social media that suggested he would be open to a WWE return. The situation was further amplified by reports from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, which stated there has been “lots and lots of talk” within WWE about the possibility of Jericho coming back, with some even speculating about a surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble. The report indicated that while nothing is official, the impression within WWE is that a deal could be possible if they want him.
In a new interview with the Daily Mail, conducted at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, Jericho directly addressed the rumors. While he did not rule out a return to his former company in the future, he affirmed his current commitment to All Elite Wrestling.
“The best thing that can happen to wrestling is AEW. And the fact that there are two huge promotions that you can choose from just makes it better for the guys, makes it better for the fans, and everybody in between. I’m not going anywhere for a long while. I’m still with AEW for right now.”
He elaborated on the possibility of one day going back to WWE, emphasizing the positive state of the wrestling industry having two major companies.
“Would I go back to WWE? I wouldn’t be opposed to it. We just have to see what happens. The best thing that can happen is to have two great teams that you can play for, and that just makes everything bigger and more exciting.”
Jericho has been a foundational member of the AEW roster since the company’s inception in 2019, serving as its inaugural World Champion. He has been off AEW television since losing the ROH World Championship to Bandido in April of this year.
