A new report from Fightful Select has provided more details on Andrade El Idolo’s new deal with All Elite Wrestling. “El Idolo” made his shocking return to the company on this week’s Dynamite anniversary show, attacking Kenny Omega and joining the Don Callis Family. The report confirms that his new contract with AEW was officially finalized within the last week. The quick turnaround from his WWE release in mid-September to his AEW return has been a major topic of discussion, and this report clarifies the timeline of his signing. Even though the contract was only recently signed, some of the creative plans for his return were reportedly already in place before the deal was official.
The report also touches on the health status of Kenny Omega, who was the target of Andrade’s return attack. A previous report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that AEW made the decision not to put Omega in a physically demanding singles match at this time, as he is not at 100 percent. Fightful’s report adds a sobering layer to this, noting that according to what they have heard, Omega’s physical situation may never be 100 percent again, and he will likely be wrestling through pain and various issues for the remainder of his career. This context adds a great deal of vulnerability to Omega’s character and makes the attack from Andrade even more significant.
