Two new faces appeared on the most recent episode of AEW Collision, as former WWE Superstar Nixon Newell (fka Tegan Nox) and independent wrestling star Miranda Alize made a surprise appearance. The duo confronted the established AEW tag team of TayJay (Tay Melo & Anna Jay), who have been outspoken about their intentions to win the newly announced AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships. The segment saw Newell and Alize get in the faces of TayJay, with the two teams agreeing to a future match. The appearance immediately sparked speculation about whether Newell and Alize had signed with All Elite Wrestling.
According to a report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the appearance may be a tryout for the new team rather than a full-time contract. Meltzer noted that he “didn’t get the impression that they’re signed to a deal so much as that they’re being brought in for a tag team match.” This suggests that their upcoming bout against TayJay will be an opportunity for them to impress company officials. Newell was released from her WWE contract in November 2024, becoming a free agent earlier this year. Alize has made appearances for AEW’s sister promotion, Ring of Honor, in the past and has recently been in a feud with Newell on the independent scene. Their match against TayJay has not yet been scheduled but will have major implications for the new tag team tournament.
