The WWE Hall of Famer was admitted to the hospital last week due to serious, undisclosed health issues, which caused a great deal of concern throughout the wrestling community. However, a new photo and update shared by the “Book Pro Wrestler” X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, October 23, shows that “The Madman from the Sudan” is recovering and in good spirits. The news is a significant relief for fans of the iconic 84-year-old performer.
The social media post included a recent photo of Abdullah in his hospital bed and a message from his team.
“Abdullah The Butcher – Official Update. This photo was taken earlier today. Abby is awake, recovering, smiling, and in great spirits. Official from his team as of 6:30 PM. Please keep him in your prayers as he continues his road to recovery.”
Abdullah has faced a number of serious health issues in recent years, including a hospitalization in the summer of 2024. His 50-plus year career, which saw him become a pioneer of the hardcore wrestling style and a massive international star, has taken a significant toll on his body. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011 for his incredible and influential career, which included dozens of title reigns in promotions all over the world, such as All Japan Pro Wrestling, the NWA, and the World Wrestling Council.
