In recent months, WWE has faced criticism for prioritizing established veterans like Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and CM Punk over its younger talent. In an interview with Complex, Paul “Triple H” Levesque addressed these concerns, arguing that the veterans are just the tip of the iceberg.
“When people talk about the business now, and they talk about where our talent is at, yeah, all the top players are in top positions, and they’re a bit older. But the thickness and the depth of what is underneath them is what I’m most excited about. The field is deep.”
He specifically pointed to rising stars like Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed as proof of the company’s healthy future.
In a separate interview on the All-In podcast, Levesque defended the company’s creative direction against claims of a lack of storytelling for mid-card champions. He compared WWE’s long-term planning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“I would say we’re much more akin to, like, the Marvel Universe—where you’re planning out long term where the movies fit and how they go with all the characters—than we are direct MMA at the end of the day.”
