Monday Night RAW provided sobering updates on two of its top stars.
PENTA has been ruled out of action for an “undetermined amount of time” following an injury sustained on the November 24 episode of RAW. PENTA landed awkwardly on a hurricanrana attempt against Solo Sikoa, causing the match to be stopped. On social media, PENTA thanked fans for their support and promised to return stronger.
“This injury tested my body and spirit, but it also awakened the strength that has always guided me… I will be back very soon, stronger, more prepared, and determined to finish what I left pending,” PENTA wrote.
Meanwhile, World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk has not been medically cleared to compete. Announcer Joe Tessitore confirmed the news on RAW, following the brutal attack Punk suffered at Survivor Series: WarGames. Punk was pinned by Bron Breakker after being superkicked and stomped by a masked attacker.
PENTA’s injury removed him from the “Last Time Is Now” tournament, where he had been scheduled to compete. He had previously defeated Finn Balor in the first round on November 21. Punk, who won the vacant World Heavyweight Title on November 1 at Saturday Night’s Main Event, currently has no timetable for his return, leaving the title picture in a state of uncertainty.
