John Cena’s Final Match Drives Historic Revenue For WWE

John Cena’s farewell was a massive financial success.

Following Saturday Night’s Main Event, Paul “Triple H” Levesque announced on social media that the show was the highest-grossing event in the history of Washington D.C.’s Capital One Arena. Furthermore, it set a new benchmark as the highest-grossing arena event in WWE history.

“We crushed a record year for this building, not just for WWE, which we did, but for this building,” Levesque noted during the post-show press conference.

The historic event was headlined by John Cena’s final match, where he lost via submission to GUNTHER. Despite the somber finish for Cena fans, the commercial success of the night underscores the enduring drawing power of the 16-time World Champion.
