The “Very Nice, Very Evil” Danhausen may soon be very free to sign elsewhere.
According to a report from Fightful Select, Danhausen’s contract with AEW is set to expire in February 2026, barring any last-minute extensions. The deal was originally scheduled to end in the summer of 2025, but the company extended it due to injury time he missed recovering from a torn pectoral muscle in 2023.
The report notes that Danhausen has not been factored into AEW’s creative plans for quite some time and hasn’t been seen backstage “in ages.” His last televised appearance for the company came at ROH Final Battle in December 2024, where he made a cameo to assist Atlantis Jr. Prior to that, communication between the two sides had reportedly ceased for over six months, limited only to approvals for independent bookings.
Danhausen debuted in AEW in 2022 during a Lights Out match between Orange Cassidy and Adam Cole. He became a popular figure alongside Best Friends and Hook before injuries and creative stagnation derailed his momentum.
