The “CEO” of AEW is stepping away from the boardroom.
On this week’s episode of Collision, a startling video package aired featuring Mercedes Moné in her locker room. The segment was filmed in the aftermath of Willow Nightingale’s TBS Championship celebration on Dynamite, where Moné attempted to crash the party but ended up with a cake in her face and a beatdown for her troubles.
Visibly shaken and sitting near a mirror, Moné suffered a breakdown, lashing out at what she perceives as constant disrespect from the company and the fans.
“I am taking a break from AEW,” she declared. “To show you why and how I elevated. And good luck without me. Because when I return, I am collecting more than just titles.”
The hiatus comes at the lowest point of Moné’s AEW career. Once holding a staggering 13 championships simultaneously across various promotions, her collection has dwindled to nine. Her “downfall” began in December 2025, starting with the loss of the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship to Alex Windsor, followed by dropping the ROH Women’s Television Championship to Red Velvet. The final blow came on the last Dynamite of 2025, where Willow Nightingale ended her historic nearly 600-day reign as TBS Champion.
It is currently unknown how long Moné plans to be away, but her ominous warning suggests that her return will be focused on revenge rather than just gold.
