The stakes are incredibly high for the champions; whoever walks out of Collision with the gold will be the team tasked with defending the AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks at this month’s Revolution event. Interestingly, earlier on Dynamite, Dax Harwood had challenged Tommaso Ciampa to a match on Collision, but those plans never materialized, shifting FTR’s focus entirely to the title defense.
The Collision broadcast, originating from Fresno, California, is packed with significant singles competition. In a massive clash of international champions, CMLL Heavyweight Champion Claudio Castagnoli will go one-on-one with NJPW TV Champion Konosuke Takeshita. This marks their third-ever singles meeting, following a grueling 20-minute time limit draw during last year’s Continental Classic. The match serves as a crucial tune-up for Takeshita before he challenges Castagnoli’s Death Riders teammate, Jon Moxley, at Revolution.
Additionally, former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland will face Bandido’s brother, Gravity. This bout was set up after Strickland viciously choked out Brody King on Wednesday, prompting Bandido to make a late save. This will be Gravity’s first AEW appearance since a November 2023 tag team match. These new additions join the previously announced four-way tag team match featuring the highly anticipated return of LFI’s Rush and Dralistico.
