Fans of professional wrestling history have a major reason to be excited for the impending release of WWE 2K26. The highly anticipated video game, launching in less than a week, will boast one of the largest rosters in franchise history, featuring over 400 playable characters. Among those icons will be the late, great wrestling legend, “The Loose Cannon” Brian Pillman.
“A Dream of Mine to Reclaim My Birthright”
The announcement was made in character by Pillman’s real-life son, current WWE NXT superstar Lexis King. King shared a passionate video update detailing his father’s inclusion in the game’s downloadable content roadmap.
“Ladies and gentlemen, it has been a dream of mine to reclaim my birthright and take what belongs to me in the WWE,” King proclaimed. “And that dream is quickly becoming a reality because I just heard through the grapevine that the WWE 2K26 Ringside Pass number three is going to include the legendary Brian Pillman.”
King enthusiastically outlined the unique gameplay opportunities the addition will provide for fans. “That’s right. You’re gonna get to play as me, you’re gonna get to play as my father, and you’re gonna get to play with us as a tag team, and of course, you’re gonna make us the tag team champions because it belongs to us and it is my birthright.”
Brian Pillman is widely celebrated for his groundbreaking work in WCW and ECW, pushing the boundaries of character work and reality-based storytelling. He also enjoyed a memorable, albeit brief, stint in WWE (then WWF), where his intense rivalry with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and alliance with The Hart Foundation remain legendary. Tragically, Pillman passed away in 1997, but his influence continues to resonate throughout the industry.
