The rematch is on. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage made it official on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite — they will challenge FTR for the AEW World Tag Team Championships at Dynasty on April 12 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It marks the first match officially announced for the pay-per-view.
Copeland explained his motivation for returning, pointing to FTR’s attack on his wife Beth Copeland at last September’s All Out — a spike piledriver that wrote him off programming while he went to film The Beekeeper 2. “I need to rectify the situation,” Copeland said, making clear the tag titles were the target. Cage added that winning them would prove he and Copeland are the best tag team of both their generation and the Bucks’ generation.
Young Bucks Also in the Picture After FTR Segment on Dynamite
The segment had an added layer — The Young Bucks were present when Copeland and Cage made their announcement, still frustrated from their Revolution loss to FTR. Copeland and Cage took out FTR and Stokely Hathaway when they tried to respond, before all four challengers briefly held the tag belts in a tense staredown. Copeland and Cage previously defeated FTR at All Out, but the title changed hands after FTR’s attack on Beth Copeland. Their return at Revolution has set up what is shaping up to be a loaded Dynasty card.
