Anthony Ogogo entered the professional wrestling world with an Olympic pedigree, but the former boxer admits his journey in All Elite Wrestling has not met his initial expectations. Despite his athletic background, Ogogo has frequently found himself outside of the promotion’s primary storylines over the last several years.
Waiting for an Opportunity on a Stacked Roster
In a candid interview with Debottam Saha of ITR Wrestling, Ogogo opened up about the mental toll of his current standing. “It has been a long, frustrating last couple of years,” Ogogo stated. “I relocated my whole life from the UK to do this. I have trained and I’m in great physical shape as you can see, so I am ready to show the world what I can do again.” He acknowledged that while he expected to be a top star by now, the nature of the industry means he is “at the behest of others,” noting that he doesn’t own the company.
The 2012 London Olympics bronze medalist has not competed in an AEW ring since a multi-man tag team match at the Zero Hour pre-show for All In London in 2024. However, he remains active behind the scenes and on the independent circuit. Ogogo recently shared a photo from a training session with the recently retired AJ Styles and has made appearances for the 1FW promotion in Georgia. As one of the few Olympians to transition to AEW, Ogogo remains determined to prove he can reach the summit of the “stacked” roster once he is granted a consistent television platform.
