TNA President Carlos Silva has addressed the mixed reactions to his on-screen appearances, making clear that what fans see isn’t a creative decision — it’s simply how he operates as the company’s president. Speaking on the SeventySix Capital Sports Leadership Show, Silva pushed back on the idea that he’s playing a television character.
“It’s a real-life character. Everyone is like, ‘Why are you playing this character?’ I’m not playing a character. I am the President and these are the things that the President does,” he said. His most visible role has been presenting champions with the title following their victories. “I think it’s important that there is a representative from the business that is honoring the champion. In some organizations, the referee gives them the belt. We decided that if it’s not me, it’ll be someone on the team.”
Silva Addresses Mixed Fan Reactions and Teases Slammiversary Location
Silva acknowledged that his on-screen presence has generated divided opinions — and he’s comfortable with that. “I get flack about it. Some people think it’s good, some people think it sucks. It all comes with the territory.” He added that the approach is something he has applied consistently across different organizations and has no plans to stop. Separately, Silva mentioned that TNA Slammiversary will return to UBS Arena, though he noted that is not yet official.
