Jeff Jarrett has weighed in on Ronda Rousey’s surprise AEW Revolution appearance, and he’s cautiously optimistic about what it could mean — while acknowledging that her motivations may have been driven more by her upcoming MMA comeback than a long-term wrestling future.
“I’m here for it. Who knows where this is going,” Jarrett said on the My World podcast. He used the moment to praise Toni Storm, the AEW women’s star Rousey stared down at Revolution. “Toni is successful in this era, and you can’t say this about all talent. She could have been successful in the 60s, 70s, the early 80s, the Attitude Era. Can you imagine what she had done then? She is really, really good. And I thought all that was super hype.”
Jarrett Believes Rousey’s Primary Motivation Was Generating Eyes on Her MMA Fight
While enthusiastic about the moment itself, Jarrett pointed to a practical reason behind Rousey’s appearance. “I think Ronda shocked some folks… Her number one motivation to be there — how many eyeballs were on her to get views for her fight? A lot. She made news last night, I think, in a positive way for her fight.” Rousey is set to fight Gina Carano on May 16 at an event backed by Netflix and Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, marking her first MMA bout since losing to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in December 2016. Per reports, Rousey is not believed to be signed to AEW at this point, leaving her status as a free agent in the pro wrestling world with no confirmed follow-up plans.
