A new production company is developing a feature-length documentary about AEW star MVP and his friendship with Rise Against guitarist Zach Blair, according to a new report from Deadline. The project is among the first announced by Cut and Paste Pictures, a Toronto-based company co-founded by Damian Abraham — best known as the former host of VICE’s The Wrestlers — which is planning a slate of scripted, unscripted, and documentary content.
Filming on the MVP and Blair documentary is expected to begin this summer in Texas. A separate unscripted series called Exit Strategy is also in development at the company, which will chronicle MVP’s life following his release from prison. As a teenager, MVP was involved in a coordinated cruise ship casino heist and ultimately served close to a decade behind bars before launching his professional wrestling career in 2001.

MVP debuted on WWE television in 2006, where he captured both the United States Championship and the WWE Tag Team Championship. He later competed in New Japan Pro-Wrestling where he became the inaugural IWGP Intercontinental Champion — a distinction he remains the only Black wrestler to have achieved. Today MVP is signed with AEW as part of The Hurt Syndicate alongside Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley. The documentary project represents a significant opportunity to bring MVP’s remarkable life story to a mainstream audience beyond the wrestling world.
