Mick Foley has revealed his involvement in an upcoming feature-length documentary on deathmatch wrestling from A24 and Australian filmmakers Danny and Michael Philippou — the twin brothers behind the horror films Talk to Me and Bring Her Back. Foley announced on Instagram that he is recording voiceover work for the project.
“DEATHMATCH DOC! Doing voiceovers for upcoming A24 documentary Deathmatch — I’ll do my best to be at the premiere!” Foley wrote. The documentary has already generated significant buzz within the wrestling industry. GCW promoter Brett Lauderdale described the project as going “much further than anyone imagined,” adding that it “shows indie wrestling in a different light and will change the way you look at deathmatch wrestlers.”

Michael Philippou personally stepped into the ring to experience deathmatch wrestling firsthand as part of the filming process — a level of immersive commitment that suggests the documentary will go well beyond a surface-level look at the genre. A24 previously produced The Iron Claw, the acclaimed 2023 biopic on the Von Erich family, demonstrating the studio’s willingness to engage seriously with professional wrestling as a subject. Foley currently has multiple Hollywood projects in development, including a limited series with actor Paul Walter Hauser attached to play the role of Foley.
