Cedric Alexander has opened up about the decision that surprised many wrestling fans — choosing TNA Wrestling over a reunion with his former Hurt Business colleagues MVP, Shelton Benjamin, and Bobby Lashley in AEW. Speaking on Know Your Wrestling, Alexander explained that the decision came down to where he was in his career and what he still wanted to accomplish.
“The Hurt Syndicate was something that people kept talking about. But at the same time, they were at a different part of their careers and I still got another 15, 20 years in mind. So it was more of a case of thinking, ‘How can I not only do something for me, but do things that I’ve always wanted to do in wrestling?’ And being in TNA is kind of a bucket list thing,” Alexander said.

Alexander also made a broader point about TNA’s underappreciated legacy in the wrestling world, crediting the promotion with setting the tone for much of what defines modern wrestling. “TNA is a place that I think really deserves more credit than what it’s been given — between the X-Division and Knockouts and just kind of setting the tone for what wrestling is today. Because if you look at your Will Ospreays or Swerve Stricklands — whoever you want to name — a lot of those guys got inspiration from TNA. So for me, it’s a place to not only give back to what gave me my love for wrestling, but also give myself some championships in the meantime.” Alexander is currently part of The System in TNA and is scheduled to challenge Leon Slater for the X Division Championship at TNA Rebellion on April 11.
