AEW Women’s Tag Team Champion Megan Bayne has addressed the ankle injury suffered by Divine Dominion partner Penelope Ford, acknowledging how significantly the situation has impacted her while vowing to hold things together until Ford returns. Speaking on the Close Up podcast, Bayne was candid about the emotional toll of seeing her closest ally sidelined.
“Obviously this current situation to me is a huge change and it’s very upsetting. This sport comes with a lot of risk and you can’t always avoid injury,” Bayne said. She was equally clear about where the focus needs to be. “At the moment, her focus needs to be on recovery. My focus will be on keeping the rest of the roster in line.”
Penelope Ford Suffered a Sprained Ankle on AEW Dynamite in February During a Botched Moonsault
Ford suffered the injury on the February 25 Dynamite during a botched Orihara moonsault, with Tony Khan subsequently warning that recovery could take weeks or months. Bayne has been carrying Divine Dominion alongside Lena Kross since Ford’s injury, successfully defending the Women’s Tag Team Championships in the process. The partnership between Bayne and Ford has been one of the defining relationships in AEW‘s women’s division since their debut as a team, making the forced separation one of the more significant absences currently affecting the promotion’s tag title picture.
