Tony Khan has offered the clearest breakdown yet of what Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks actually do in their Executive Vice President roles at AEW — and it goes well beyond their in-ring work. Speaking on The Coach and Bro Show, Khan reflected on the foundational importance of the trio to the company’s creation and outlined how their behind-the-scenes contributions continue to shape AEW today.
Khan credited the 2018 Chris Jericho versus Kenny Omega match at the Tokyo Dome as a pivotal moment in convincing him the business could work. “Without the Chris Jericho vs. Kenny Omega match in the Tokyo Dome in 2018, I’m not sure I would have believed the economy and the possibilities were there. When I saw how much they were able to grow the international business — having those guys involved was instrumental. I wouldn’t be here without those guys, and they’re important to us today.”

Khan provided specific details on how each party contributes to AEW in their EVP capacity today. “Kenny Omega has been involved in different digital projects for us and the wrestling side. And the Young Bucks to this day are a huge part of the wrestling show.” He also credited all three — alongside Jericho — with helping build the creative foundation of the company from its earliest days. “Creating some of our pay-per-view events from the very beginning, we’ve worked together to really put the Elite in All Elite Wrestling. A lot of the ideas we had from the very beginning to launch this company came off the back of the work the guys had done before AEW started.” The EVP roles for Omega and The Bucks have been part of AEW since its 2019 launch and have been woven into on-screen storylines at various points, though Khan’s comments confirm their most meaningful contributions remain firmly on the business and creative side.
