MJF has gone on the offensive against TNA Wrestling and company president Carlos Silva following reports that TNA is no longer allowing its talent to work matches against AEW-contracted performers at independent events. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, the AEW World Champion framed the situation as a direct attack on the financial livelihoods of the very wrestlers TNA claims to be protecting.
“Let’s talk about TNA and the fact that they are pulling young talent off the shows when they are barely paying them any money whatsoever and telling them, ‘Hey, you can’t wrestle because there is a guy from another promotion that is wrestling on this show.’ Does that help young talent grow? Does that help young talent become better inside the squared circle? Moreover, does that help young talent put food on their plate and table so they can eat? What Carlos Silva is doing is disgusting,” MJF said. He went further in challenging anyone who continues to support TNA under the current circumstances. “If anybody supports him or that company at this point, it is very hard for me to wrap my head around.”
TNA Has Cited “Partner Conflicts” as the Reason for Restricting Matches Between Its Talent and AEW Performers
TNA and Silva issued statements attributing the restrictions to “partner conflicts” — language widely interpreted as a reference to the promotion’s ongoing partnership with WWE. Lance Storm, who works as a TNA producer, subsequently appeared on Wrestling Observer Live to respond to MJF’s comments, pointing out that encouraging fans to boycott TNA would also hurt the same wrestlers MJF claims to be defending. The MJF versus Nic Nemeth match at CAP Monumental Moment was among the events canceled as a result of the new policy, with MJF instead holding an open challenge and Nemeth facing Bear Bronson as a replacement.
