Tony Khan has reiterated his commitment to a fundamentally changed creative approach as AEW heads into one of its most exciting stretches of 2026. Speaking with KING 5 in Seattle ahead of the Spring BreakThru Dynamite, Khan previewed the MJF versus Darby Allin World Championship match while also reflecting on what has driven AEW’s recent upswing.
“From now on, I will only trust my instincts. I will only execute the ideas that I believe in,” Khan said — echoing comments he had made to other outlets in recent weeks while adding specific match previews. On the Allin versus MJF title match, Khan called it “a lot of fun to see Darby Allin versus MJF 2,” describing Allin as on “a phenomenal winning streak” heading into the hometown championship opportunity. He also previewed the TNT Championship match between Kevin Knight and Claudio Castagnoli, saying “There’s never been a one-on-one match between Claudio and the Jet” and expressing genuine excitement about the first-time meeting.
Tony Khan Says Spring BreakThru Marks One Year of AEW Dynamite as the Longest Running Primetime Wrestling Show on TBS and TNT
Khan also highlighted the historical significance of the Spring BreakThru event beyond its match card. “Spring BreakThru represents the one year anniversary of AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite becoming the longest running primetime pro wrestling show in the history of TBS and TNT. It’s such an exciting time for AEW.” The milestone adds another layer of meaning to an already significant week for AEW coming off the Dynasty pay-per-view and heading into a new championship era with Allin capturing the World title.
