AEW has officially confirmed Kazuchika Okada versus Konosuke Takeshita for the AEW International Championship at Double or Nothing on May 24 from Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York. The match was announced on Thursday’s Collision, making it the first bout officially set for the pay-per-view.
The match was originally proposed as a condition of Okada and Takeshita uniting to face The Young Bucks at Dynasty — with the stipulation that a win would earn Takeshita a future International title shot. However, at Dynasty, Takeshita walked out on Okada and allowed him to take the loss. On Thursday’s Collision, Don Callis offered to get Okada out of the match given Takeshita’s betrayal. Okada refused, stating he still wanted to compete because unlike Takeshita, he is a champion. The match was subsequently confirmed.
