FTR has accepted Adam Copeland’s challenge for a New York Street Fight at AEW Double or Nothing on May 24 — but Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler are not satisfied with simply accepting the terms as offered. Opening Saturday’s Collision, FTR addressed Copeland’s challenge alongside Stokely Hathaway and added a stipulation of their own that significantly raises the stakes for both teams.
Cash Wheeler admitted the challenge was “enticing” before Dax Harwood took the microphone and explained why he wants more than just a Street Fight. “Given the stakes involved, he doesn’t want any more debates after the pay-per-view — and thus wants the ‘I Quit’ stipulation to be added.” Harwood said he wants Copeland and Christian Cage’s loved ones to hear those dreaded words come out of their mouths at Double or Nothing in New York.
Copeland Had Staked His Tag Team Career With Christian Cage on the Line if They Fail to Win at Double or Nothing
The context behind the challenge makes FTR’s I Quit demand even more loaded. On Dynamite, Copeland had challenged FTR after they proclaimed that Cope and Cage would never get another shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championships — upping the ante by stating he and Christian would retire as a duo if they failed to win at Double or Nothing. A New York Street Fight with an I Quit stipulation layered on top means not only could the team be retired, but someone will be forced to verbally surrender in front of their home city crowd in Queens. AEW Double or Nothing takes place May 24 at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York.
