A new report has shed light on the reasoning behind WWE’s NXT releases on Friday. The most notable developmental departures included Tyson Dupont, Tyriek Igwe, Tyra Mae Steele, Malik Blade, and Luca Crusifino, all of whom had appeared on NXT and/or EVOLVE programming.
According to Bodyslam+, one key reason for the cuts is an influx of newly signed talent yet to be officially announced, with WWE needing roster space to accommodate the incoming names. Another source added that several releases were tied to performance expectations, noting some talent had not progressed in training within WWE’s internal timeframe.
Additional releases included Chris Island, Sirena Linton, and Trill London. Reports indicate more NXT cuts could still be on the way.
