Tony Khan sent his best wishes to Rebel at the Double or Nothing post-show media scrum on Sunday night and floated the idea of hosting a Fight for the Fallen event to raise funds for ALS research.
Rebel — real name Tanea Brooks — announced on May 1 that she has been diagnosed with terminal ALS after a two-year medical journey that began with masses on her lungs. In her announcement video, she thanked Khan and AEW directly. “I want to say thank you to Tony Khan and AEW for supporting me on this medical journey. It has been a blessing that is unheard of. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Please continue to pray for a peaceful journey and a peaceful passing.”
ALS — amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease — currently has no cure. Brooks noted in her video that the diagnosis explains the deterioration in her walking and speech, and that all her functions will soon decline.
Fight for the Fallen is AEW’s annual charity event, which has previously benefited victims of Hurricane Helene and other causes. No date or location has been announced for a 2026 edition.
