Tony Khan said at the post-Double or Nothing media scrum that AEW is not thinking about competing directly with WWE when both companies run the same market.
Khan was asked about AEW’s upcoming Detroit shows at the Masonic Temple Theater on July 29-30 — nine days after WWE Raw runs Little Caesars Arena in the same city on July 20. He did not treat it as a point of concern.
“Right now, we’re very focused on just doing the very best shows we can with AEW,” Khan said. “I believe, I think, in my opinion, it’s showing up. You can see everybody’s working so hard, and it feels like it’s really connecting with the fans.”
He added that AEW has not been thinking about what other promotions are doing for several years, focusing instead on its own partnerships and creative direction. General public tickets for AEW’s Detroit shows go on sale June 1.
