AJ Styles gave his blessing to wrestlers using the Styles Clash, telling anyone who wants it that “it’s all yours,” on his Phenomenally Retro Podcast.
“Dragon Lee did reach out and he was like, ‘Hey man, do you care?’ I go, ‘Man, please. Please use it. And anybody who wants to use it, it’s all yours. The Phenomenal Forearm, use it. It’s out there. I know Ospreay does it. Do it, dude. It doesn’t bother me, not one bit. AJ Styles isn’t going to use it anymore. I hope it can find itself in professional wrestling for a long time,” Styles said.
Styles also spoke warmly about Ospreay. “Will’s the man, dude. I would love to have him in WWE — he’s an amazing talent. I think he’s figured out a lot about himself, and what he can do, and what looks good.”
Ospreay used the Styles Clash on Samoa Joe at Double or Nothing last Sunday while defeating him in the Owen Hart Men’s quarterfinal. At the post-show media scrum, Ospreay explained the significance of the match and the move. “The match that AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, and Samoa Joe had made me want to be a pro wrestler… I wrestled AJ, I wrestled Daniels. This was the last piece of that puzzle, the trifecta,” Ospreay said. “It blows my mind that I was lucky enough to be in there with Samoa Joe.”
