Mick Foley reflected on his AEW Double or Nothing debut on Instagram, praising Tony Khan’s leadership style and bidding a warm farewell to WWE.
“The energy backstage reminds me of the way WWE felt during the Attitude Era where we were all actively pulling for each other, but we also understood that striking out was part of the process of hitting monumental home runs,” Foley wrote. He contrasted Khan’s approach with what he experienced under Vince McMahon. “Mr. McMahon had a different way of doing things, but it wasn’t with that type of joy. Tony is excited and loves what he’s doing. He’s happy to be there. That type of enthusiasm makes me feel enthusiastic.”
He was careful not to make it an attack on WWE. “In no way am I here to throw stones at WWE. I love the company, always will. I will always be deeply appreciative of every opportunity they afforded me.”
Foley left his WWE legends deal in December 2025, citing the company’s association with the Trump administration. He co-hosted the Double or Nothing Buy-In pre-show alongside Renee Paquette and had a ring segment with MJF. Khan said on the pre-event media call he would love to see Foley wrestle for AEW, though concussion history has made a return unlikely. Foley is expected to appear at all AEW pay-per-views and several television tapings going forward.
