A 12-man steel cage match has been added to AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 28 in San Jose, California. Team MJF will face Team Mark Briscoe — if Briscoe’s team wins, Briscoe earns a future AEW World Championship match.
The match was made on Wednesday’s Dynamite after MJF continued to deny Briscoe a title shot. Briscoe was attacked by Jay Lethal, Blake Christian, and Lee Johnson. Conglomeration members ran in to help, and Briscoe challenged MJF to the cage match. MJF recruited from the Don Callis Family for backup, with Kevin Knight agreeing to join Team MJF in exchange for a world title shot if they win. The stipulation drew anger from Andrade El Idolo, who continues to seek a title opportunity of his own.
