On the latest episode of My World, Jeff Jarrett praised Sami Zayn’s WWE Championship win, crediting him as the engine of the entire Bloodline saga and bristling at the immediate talk of him being a transition champion. You can check out his comments below:
“Congrats, Sami — El Generico, man, a long grind, a long time coming. I know the two sides of every coin, done in a three-way, done in Saudi. Right in the middle of all this, you can already hear, the day after he wins it, how’s he going to lose it? I hate that personally for Sami, this word ‘transition champion.’ I’ve always looked at that a little sly-eyed. Whoever, quote-unquote, is the transition champion, the company believed enough in you to make you champion. You may not be the babyface who’s six-five, chiseled stone, awesome promo, or the monster heel, but Sami, from the day he appeared in any wrestling ring — don’t mistake him for having the best body in the world, but he knows how to utilize his talents as good as anybody I’ve ever seen in this business. We talked about it multiple times during the Bloodline — I truly believe you take Sami out of the Bloodline story and we don’t have anything, remotely. He was the real catalyst. If there were Oscars back-to-back years, he would have gotten best supporting role, because he’s the one who really made that dynamic gel. You’ve got to give Sami a ton of credit for Jey Uso’s rise, and for the whole dynamic around the tribal chief. The word talent can be misused at times, but Sami is loaded with talent — he knows how to do it, when to do it, where to do it, and when not to do it. I can’t say enough good things.”
“The obvious tells me how you’re going to get it onto Gunther, and that’s unfortunate, but my gut tells me that’s where they’re headed. Out of that match, Gunther was not beaten, so it’s an easy storyline, connect the dots — Gunther gets a shot at it, and that feels like the next step.”
