WWE had “little to no” internal discussions about pursuing Jack Perry had he entered free agency, per WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, following Perry’s re-signing with AEW on the Beach Break Dynamite.
According to sources in WWE, there was not a big desire to bring the former AEW National Champion in, with the predominant sentiment being that he didn’t fit in WWE’s current roster landscape, and was never viewed as a “realistic target.”
The report does not attribute WWE’s lack of interest to Perry’s 2023 backstage altercation with CM Punk at All In — though that history between them is notable given Punk’s current position as WWE’s Undisputed Champion.
Tony Khan said before Forbidden Door that “the plan for AEW and Jack is for Jack to be here for a long time.”
