The live-action Moana, which stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, opened to $43 million domestically and $52 million internationally against a reported $250 million production budget, before marketing. Disney had reportedly projected a $60 million to $65 million domestic debut and $140 million globally, leaving the international figure well short of expectations.
Moana did open above 2025’s Snow White, which drew $42 million in its domestic opening weekend and finished at $87 million domestically and $205 million worldwide.
