On the latest episode of My World, Jeff Jarrett reflected on the special bond between professional wrestling and West Tennessee, pointing to how deeply it was woven into the local culture. You can check out his comments below:
“People always think of Tennessee wrestling, or Memphis, and you hear the ECW guys, oh, Memphis this, Memphis that. Jimmy Hart is always the example — born and raised, Treadwell High School, all that, he just knows the history, and there are others. But the relationship that professional wrestling had with West Tennessee was unique. It was different than Nashville in a lot of ways. It was on the six and 10 o’clock news — they did the weigh-in, and you can see Lawler walking in the background, and the way it was treated. A lot of revenue was created out of there, but that’s a perfect example of the relationship wrestling had with that community.”
