New Japan Pro-Wrestling will hold an event inside an airport. NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi and Yusuke Kimura of Hokkaido Airports Co. made the announcement before night three of G1 Climax 36 in Hokkaido on Sunday.
The show takes place Friday, September 18 at Center Plaza in New Chitose Airport, as part of celebrations for the airport’s 100th anniversary.
“We will be holding ‘airport wrestling’ at Center Plaza, right in the middle of New Chitose Airport,” Kimura said, per a translation. “This is the first time that New Chitose Airport has done professional wrestling, and the first time that New Japan Pro-Wrestling has done professional wrestling at an airport. Bringing the truly once-in-a-century scenery to Hokkaido, Japan, and the world. It’s going to be a day like that.”
Tanahashi said the airport gives people from across Japan and around the world a chance to see New Japan.
