Mike Santana appeared on NXT on Tuesday, confronting Tony D’Angelo after the main event. Robert Stone had spent the night on the phone indicating someone was arriving, and Santana came through the crowd after D’Angelo beat Naraku. The show ended with the two in a staredown.
Santana was not named on commentary, on the video screen during his entrance, or on WWE’s social media.
Santana, a two-time TNA World Champion, left that company at Slammiversary on June 28 after losing the title to Nic Nemeth. He later posted the date “7/15” on social media, hinting at when his TNA contract expired.
He had made NXT appearances during his TNA run, winning an NXT vs. TNA Survivor Series elimination match at last year’s NXT Showdown and teaming with OTM to beat Darkstate in a six-person tag match at the MSG Theatre in March.
