On the latest episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt Hardy laid out why Jeff Jarrett deserves permanent credit for TNA’s existence, walking through the story the Dark Side of the Ring episode told. You can check out his comments below:
“I think they did a great job by Jeff, because the story was told real well — from his upbringing, into getting into the business, the ups and downs, his path, how he got to where he was, walking out on WWE. I love the thing where he said, oh, I’m going to do 100,000, and then he walked around the side of the building and said, actually, I’m going to do 200,000. And I’ll never forget, as he was leaving that day, he said, you boys be careful, I’ll see you down the road. It was crazy, man. Then him being fired once Vince acquired the rights to WCW and bought WCW, and he’s just like, if I can’t go there, then what am I going to do? Wrestling needs an alternative. So he went out on a limb and started TNA, which is ballsy. That’s a huge investment, that’s totally time-consuming, that dictates your whole life. TNA would not exist if not for Jeff Jarrett. That credit will always go to him.”
“He made some ballsy moves, and he showed how he truly was a guy who loves wrestling. He has shown that now for 35 years, almost 40 years. It was good, because you got to see his downfall and the weaknesses and kind of the trauma that may have helped get him there. I think that was an important part of it. Then you got to see him hit rock bottom, and then you got to see his redemption story. He’s in a good place right now, and he’s still giving back and helping make the industry a better place. I thought it was a very good representation of Jeff Jarrett and his journey in life.”
