On the latest episode of his My World podcast, recorded live the week of SummerSlam, Jeff Jarrett ran through the two-night card in Minnesota and made his picks. You can check out his comments below:
On Cody Rhodes vs. CM Punk:
“What a political chess game we have going on. I’m going to say Cody gets his hand raised.”
On Nick Aldis challenging Gunther — Jarrett is a strong supporter of Aldis, whom he calls a friend of the show:
“That’s AI, Nick. And I don’t think Gunther is going to last. I think Gunther taps in under five.” (Jarrett predicted Aldis would make Gunther submit, likely to the sharpshooter given the Montreal-adjacent timing.)
On Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins, the match closing night two:
“Yes, Roman gets his hand raised, no doubt.”
Jarrett also singled out the Intercontinental Title match between Chad Gable and Penta as his sleeper pick to steal the weekend:
“I think Penta steals the show this weekend. That’s kind of the overarching — I think they steal the show. When you look at the entire card, everybody’s going to step up and deliver, but I think Chad and Penta have got a real opportunity here.”
On formatting the show and the Brock Lesnar/Oba Femi element, Jarrett saw a possible WrestleMania seed:
“I’m torn, because it’s Minneapolis. Brock wants to do this, and maybe they leave the finish where Brock’s coming back and set up for Mania already. It’ll be interesting to see how it lays out.”
