On the latest episode of his My World podcast, recorded live, Jeff Jarrett addressed the news that SiriusXM’s wrestling channel has flipped to a WWE Radio format — a shift that has fans worried AEW and other promotions will disappear from Busted Open. Jarrett, who recently appeared on the show himself, told host Dave LaGreca to own the change rather than downplay it. You can check out his comments below:
Asked whether he believed LaGreca’s assurance that nothing would change on his show:
“Nobody believes that, not one person. If I’m Dave, I’m loud and proud and saying, you’re damn right, this is who we are now. We are WWE Radio. This is exactly the license agreement. We started this 17 years ago, this is my goal. If WWE is going to come along and write checks and partner, I’m absolutely going to be their voice five days a week. I’m absolutely going to promote their product. You’ve reached the promised land. Try not to mix the signals — don’t confuse them, you’ll lose them. You are the voice of WWE Radio. Go for it, man.”
Jarrett framed it as a career achievement for LaGreca rather than something to apologize for:
“You said it on the radio when you were coming up, the little engine that could, reporting on TNA back in the day when the revenue wasn’t like it was. You built it and built it, and now you’ve got a licensing agreement and you’re the face of WWE Radio. That’s mission accomplished as a businessman. So don’t give us this gray hair, nothing’s changed. Nobody believes that. Stick to your guns.”
He did, however, see an opening left behind:
“One door closes, another one opens. There is an opportunity wide freaking open to have 24/7, 365 chatter about all things except WWE. There’s the lane wide open of what Busted Open used to be — talk about every promotion. It’s there.”
