On the latest episode of My World, Jeff Jarrett responded to The Undertaker’s recent comments about Vince McMahon never pulling the trigger on a dream match with Sting, offering a promoter’s theory on why. You can check out his comments below:
On the reason coming down to ownership of the character:
“This is only my opinion, but when you really look at Vince’s growth, he looked at the quote-unquote 22 territory promoters and basically said, I’m going to do it better than them. What’s best for WWE is what we’re doing. Period. The brand comes before anything else. So he knew he’ll never own Sting, and Sting probably rightly so would be known that you’re renting the IP of Sting right now.”
On the creative math Vince would have run:
“He looked at it and said, am I going to increase WWE’s brand by booking it? That’s subjective in Vince’s opinion. He’s like, in essence, saying Taker’s my creation, and I’m not going to give my creation the rub to something I don’t own. And so Taker’s going to go against Bray Wyatt, which is another part of my creation, and my DX group is going to face Sting and the NWO, which he did not create. It’s protection of the brand, and he probably thought there was more upside for DX beating NWO than Undertaker beating Sting.”
On whether a bigger dream match than Sting vs. Taker exists:
“Is there a bigger one than Sting-Taker? I don’t think so. Sting-Warrior in their primes.”
