On the latest episode of My World, Jeff Jarrett made the business case for WWE’s two-night stadium shows and explained why he believes the Saturday night now outdraws the Sunday. You can check out his comments below:
On the two-night model being the evolution:
“Yeah, without question. I think it’s the evolution. There is a sense of, oh, they need to go back to one night, and I don’t want to read too much into that, but I don’t think you’re going to put that toothpaste back in the tube. TKO is laser focused on butts in seats and revenue. And if you take it back to one night, I think sponsorship, all the ancillary quote-unquote revenue besides ticket sales, is going to go away. They’re not going to do that. So the two nights are here to stay.”
On why the card doesn’t drive travel-package sales:
“Now brands sell, the WWE brand, the SummerSlam brand. I don’t think any one person that buys those travel packages says, I’m going to hold up on buying the travel packages, I’ve got to see what the card is. That’s where promoting is. It’s the championship game. They’re not buying a ticket to see either one of those guys, that’s why the Super Bowl, people are coming to the event.”
On Saturday becoming the number one night:
“I think the fact that it’s Saturday night, there were some outliers, they’ve got to get back to work, and obviously the affordability is going to factor in. But traveling on Sunday, I think Saturday night, moving forward, will always be the number one night. You’re a music promoter, go ask them. There is exponentially more motivation to run an event on Saturday versus Sunday, and I don’t think wrestling’s immune to that.”
