Kairi Sane said her WWE release came out of nowhere and cut short a storyline that was about to pay off.
Sane was released after WrestleMania 42 in April. Her last match was on the April 20 edition of RAW, and her on-screen story with Asuka ended without a finish.
Speaking to Ring Plus, Sane said the timing was what made it hardest.
“It was just as much of a bolt out of the blue for me as it was for everyone else. My friends around me felt the same way. I was appearing on RAW almost every single week without missing a beat, and I was involved in storylines both inside and outside the ring,” Sane said. “The storyline was reaching a turning point where my character was about to explode into action. I had been building up frustration and holding back for so long, and I was finally at the stage where I thought, ‘Now I can unleash my true potential!’ So getting released right at that moment was a huge shock.”
Sane is now a free agent and has not wrestled since leaving WWE. She has listed Barry Bloom as her manager for bookings, and recently liked a comment on one of her Instagram posts reading, “All Elite soon.”
