CM Punk’s crude line about Sami Zayn on SmackDown was not on WWE’s internal rundown for the show, according to Fightful Select.
Punk made the remark in a backstage interview with Cathy Kelley in Mexico City, referencing Zayn’s nine-day first reign as champion.
“If you think I came to Mexico City, where some of the greatest pro wrestling fans in the world reside, to lose my title to a guy who broke his hand jerking it to his nine-day fluke title win, then you’ve got another thing coming,” Punk said.
The line was bleeped on Netflix. Fightful reported it was not listed on the rundown, indicating Punk added it himself.
Zayn beat Punk in the main event later that night to regain the Undisputed WWE Championship, ending Punk’s 67-day reign. Fightful reported the match was produced by Bobby Roode and Shawn Daivari.
